The Under 7s Port Saints Bobcats began their season in scintillating form with a comprehensive display against Camden Haven White in Laurieton. The team is made up of three of last year's original members combined with some fresh new faces. The entire squad showed some great footballing talent and a willingness to get involved in both attack and defence. The Bobcats had two goals in the back of the net within the first few minutes and continued to dominate the opposition during the second stanza. Coach Mark Warren and Bobcats parents were impressed with how quickly the team gelled, their enthusiasm and commitment. Goal scorers were Evan, Emma S, Brodie and Diljot. U8 Port Saints Coyotes v Lake Cathie Raiders Blue
Port Saints Coyotes put in a fantastic effort for the first game of the season, the first 5-10 minutes were slow for the Coyotes as Lake Cathie kicked the first goal. However the boys then found their feet passing and scoring several goals in succession. With Mason Moore in goals diving at all angles for the first half and itching to get into the mix of things. In the second half came on and played out of his skin to obtain "Player of the Match" awarded to him by the parents of the Coyotes. We had multiple goals scorers throughout the game Braydn Cook, Kye Hofman, Kyle Davis, Cobe Rose, Mitchell Clarke and our first time player Connor Xu. Jaylen Butler and Jack Morton had a brilliant game chasing the ball all over the park and never gave up throughout the whole game. Thanks to the great competitors, Lake Cathie Raiders Blue who put in a superb defensive effort making for an outstanding opening round.

U9 Port Saints Sharks v Port FC Pythons
Well what a start we had to the 2011 season with a beautiful sunny day. The pitches at Findlay Park were green and lush thanks to some dedicated off season maintenance. A big thank you to Andrew Lickley, 'Chicka' and the Hastings Council grounds staff.  The players were obviously champing at the bit to start the new season as the game started with a bang and never slowed down til the end whistle.
Shots at goal were a plenty with a cracker of a goal from the sharks full back Harrison Burton who put one in the net from half way. Layni Fenns christened her new pink boots with a sliding goal. Bailey Anderson who was the Sharks most prolific goal scorer last year also found the net, as did Vaughan Lickley and Jamie Munn. In reply the Pythons showed some great play and skills with Andrew Walton & Caleb Khodary scoring spectacular goals with great support from the team. Sharks Anton Cornale ran all day and with the help of Tate Hutchison and Charlie Keys they were a solid midfield combination. Bella Sullivan was unlucky not to score with a great effort up front as usual.  The season break obviously inspired all these youngsters. Both teams displayed magnificent skills and the teamwork was outstanding considering this was the first game of the season. Well done to all players.

U11 Port Saints Wildcats v Lake Cathie Raiders.
What a start to the season! The match began in Lake Cathie Raider's favour. They were passing the ball relentlessly and creating numerous goal scoring opportunities. Port Saints Wildcats were showing early first match nerves and were saved numerous times by Jackson Meehan in goals. The Raiders scored first with a brilliant goal sailing past the outstretched hand of Jackson. Wildcats kicked it up a gear with the midfield working tirelessly at both ends of the field lead by Jesse Beaumont. A well timed pass by Jayde Davis to Connor Ashard and the score was tied at 1-1 going into the second half. The second half saw the Wildcats kick it up yet another gear. Passes found their mark with regularity creating an opportunity for Tiana Williams to put one in the back of the net. Defence was a team effort with the forwards often seen clearing the ball from their own half during a Raiders attack. Mackenzie Clarke made a remarkable save from what appeared to be a certain Raiders goal, pushing the ball over the crossbar. Jayde Davis demonstrated her talent scoring two more goals, one with her left and one with her right foot, both fed to her by the hard working midfield. Result: Port Saints Wildcats 4, Lake Cathie Raiders 1.
