Round 8 - 5th June (Washed out Re-scheduled 7th August)

Round 9 - 12th June 2010

U6 Port Saints Bobcats v Port Saints Jaguars:
The Port Saints Under 6 Bobcats took on their club mates the Jaguars in their Round 9 game and managed 4 unanswered goals in the first half with a dominant display. Diljot and Byron worked their way through the mid-field to set up a number of chances, Evan worked the sidelines and had the opposition on the back foot time and time again, Taylor went kick happy and had his biggest involvement all season while Jett hunted around for opportunities all game and was rewarded with his first goal of the year. The Jaguars grabbed an early goal in the second half but it was the Bobcats with 2 more goals that sealed a comprehensive victory. It was one of their best team efforts this season and made it 3 wins on the trot. The hard work these guys are putting in at training is paying off on game day. Goal Scorers were Byron (2), Evan (2) and Jett. Byron's tenacious work and non-stop effort saw him take out the weekly award. Big thanks to the Jaguars who played fair and tried hard all game.

U7 Port Saints Dingos v Camden Haven Reds
Port Saints Dingos hosted Camden Haven Reds on Saturday.  With the Dingos coach away this weekend, 'assistant-coach' Paul Clarke stepped in, and with an undefeated record to maintain, directed the Dingos to defeat the Reds in a fantastic game.  Thanks Paul you can breathe easy now! Incredible effort to the 'player of the match' Braydn Cook who scored his first goal of the season, warming into the games after having the first few weeks off due to a broken collar-bone.  Well done Braydn!! Cobe Rose also got through the tough defence to score a goal, with Mitchell Clarke, and Tallis Petro being the other goal scorers 6 between them.  Awesome guys!! Jaylen Butler and Ella Wighton showed their great team spirit being right in the action, while also demonstrating terrific teamwork to defeat the opposition. Well done Dingos! Thanks to the Camden Haven Reds for a great game.

U8 Port Saints Tigers v Wauchope Timbercutters: After two weeks out, the Tigers came back in fine form to win their second game of season by a good margin. Excited boys/victory hugs/high-fives all round!!  With no subs the team played a huge game.  Consistent pressure was on, as Tigers kept ball close to Timbercutters' goalie most of match.  Star scorers were Isaac Plunkett & Charley Terry with a sensational goal by Chris Hamilton.    Jack Hyde, a familiar streak of fire on field;  great passing skills, footwork and defence by Tobias Marsham, Roy Krebs and Tim Myhill and the united front of the Tigers team ensured their success today!

U8 Port Saints Sharks v Port FC Pythons:
The Sharkies with no substitutes and were one player down on field and had to fight hard against some skilled Pythons. Harrison Burton and Joshua Milner displayed brilliant determination in the goals to keep the Python's at bay and Angus Williams and Charlie Keys played hard in midfield while Vaughan Lickley and Bailey Anderson were the goal scorers for the Sharks.  The Pythons were too good on the day but well done to all for a good battle til the end.

U9 Port Saints Sharks V Port United Dragons:
After a few weeks off the boys were praying for no rain during the week so they could enjoy a good game of soccer. They played a tough game against the Dragons on Saturday ending with a close score. Harry Noonan our resident goal keeper stopped many an attempt by the Dragons and coped with the pressure really well. Logan Nozworthy had a standout game with plenty of tough tackling, playing a very important role in keeping the scores low. Jukiah Crowhurst was in the thick of the action throughout the game, as were Caleb, Lachie and Mitchell. Liam Johnson and Jesse Taylor teamed up to score the one goal that made it through for the Sharks. Well done boys.

U11 Port Saints Wildcats v Port United Goannas: The Wildcats headed off to Dixie Park for a tough game against the Goannas.  The Wildcats didn't have many opportunites to score with most of the game being played down in their own defensive end of the field which made it a busy game for the goalies.  Despite the score at the final whistle, this week Eloise Pepper and Clare McLachlan were stand out players for the Wildcats, with Clare taking out player of the week.
Round 10 - 19th June 2010

U6 Port Saints Bobcats v Port United Wombats:
The Port Saints Under 6 Bobcats with an impressive display of teamwork kept the opposition trapped in their half for the majority of game with some strong defence. When in possession they worked their way around the field to set up a number of opportunities and with a bit of luck could have found the back of the net a few more times. Bryon, Jett and Taylor frustrated the Wombats doing the hard yards in the pack while Evan (5 goals), Diljot (1) and Brodie (1) made the most of their several breaks downfield. Half way through the season and the Bobcats have formed a formidable combination and continue to surprise and delight their coach and parents. Brodie's non-stop effort saw him take out the weekly award.

U7 Port Saints Dingos v Port Saints Lions
Saints Dingos were hosted by Saints Lions at Findlay Park on Saturday.  Parents and coaches were rewarded with an amazing encounter - the Dingos fighting the Lions defence to finally, in the second half, score some points. Fantastic effort by Mitchell Clarke, the well deserved 'player of the match' who not only broke the nil all score line to put the first point on the board, but also followed through with another 3 goals to take his tally to 4 for the game.  Kyle Davis, Tallis Petro and Braydn Cook helped out with one goal each, whilst Ella Wighton, Cobe Rose and Jaylen Butler kept pestering the Lions defence to assist the team to break through and score. Thanks to the tough competition from the Saints Lions who made the Dingos work extremely hard this week.  Great game Dingos and Lions.

U8 Port Saints Tigers v Port Saints Leopards:
Sensational winter weather for the Tigers/Leopards as they battled it out in a tough game.  Even the Ref got bowled!   Tobias Marsham & Charley Terry, goalies, were kept very busy & did a hugely impressive job saving many balls.  Tim Myhill played his best game yet in blocking/moving ball on.  A fantastic & humorous job by Roy Krebs in marking a man (the new human magnet)!  On ya, Roy!  Patrick Brown, Tate Hutchison, Isaac Plunkett, Chris Hamilton & Jack Hyde worked tirelessly moving ball away from the goal area and out and around the field, keeping the Leopards on the run.  A great game boys! Thanks Leopards - congrats on your win!

U8 Port Saints Wildcats v Port Macquarie FC Pythons
Even some very low flying planes over Tuffins Lane could not distract the wildcats from a fantastic team performance.  All players made valuable contributions. Player of the week Emmeline was dominant with many examples of individual brilliance throughout the match. A well controlled and effective header early in the game was one highlight. .The Wildcats defenders worked tirelessly. Cian always contested and blocked often. Ryan was solid as usual and his run the length of the pitch was memorable. The penetrating kicking of Paige was reliable and continues to impress. First half goal keeper Sarah was tested often and made some great saves. Possibly inspired by the World Cup a determined Malachy really responded to the cheering crowd. The work rate of attackers Robbie C and Robbie M was exceptional and they often combined to create some great chances. Magnificent effort Wildcats.

U9 Port Saints Sharks v Wauchope Axemen
The boys had another tough game on the weekend against the Wauchope Axemen. Going into the second half of the draw the boys wanted to redeem themselves from their earlier loss to the Axemen, unfortunately this didn't happen on the score sheet but they did play a much more confident game this time around. Harry saved some tough goal attempts and was supported beautifully by Logan and Mitchell. Both these boys play the back role really well. Liam and Jesse kept the attack going and didn't give up despite constant saves by the Axemen goalies. Caleb and Jukiah made some great attacking moves throughout the game and were always in the thick of things. The stand out player for this week was Lachlan Grant who played a terrific game despite being off school sick most of the week - well done Lachie.

U11 Port Saints Wildcats v Kempsey Saints White 0-4
After a big loss last weekend the Wildcats headed onto the field with their heads held high and played a great game of soccer against the 3rd placed Kempsey Saints White team.  Although the Wildcats went down 4 nil in this game, they played as a team and that showed on the field with some great passing and communication all over the park.  James Lambert played a great defensive game, and even though he played with a foot injury, never gave up.  This week's player of the week went to Dylan Orchard who had a fantastic game, especially in the first half as goalie, he backed himself and came away with some great goals saves.

Round 11 - 26th June 2010

U6 Port Saints Bobcats v Rattlesnakes
The Port Saints Under 6 Bobcats played their hardest game of the year in tough conditions away from home against the Rattlesnakes with goals proving hard to come by for both sides. After a scoreless first half the Bobcats fired in 2 quick goals to Evan and Brodie to start the second stanza. Both boys caused plenty of havoc up front unfortunately the Bobcats narrowly missed converting around half a dozen opportunities during the game but they continued to work hard in both attack and defence. They were absolutely exhausted when their opposition finally took advantage of a loose ball and scored close to fulltime however the Bobcats prevailed to notch up their fifth consecutive win. Diljot's speed across the field to help his team mates prevented the opposition from getting anywhere the net, Byron is the king of bursting through the pack, Jett is getting more courageous each week to get involved and make an impact while our "Bobcat of the Week" Taylor tuned on his A-grade game this week with plenty of touches and big kicks. What made the result even more impressive is the Bobcats actually spent a fair bit of energy playing a few minutes against an under 7s team on the adjacent field until anyone realized the mistake.

U7 Port Saints Dingos v Port Saints Wolves
Port Saints Dingos were hosted by Port Saints Wolves at Findlay Park on Saturday.  Parents and coaches were rewarded with an excellent game with both sides evenly matched.
Well done to Ella Wighton for stopping a certain goal in the first half, this was a game breaker and earning her the 'Player of the Match'.  Fantastic effort by Tallis Petro scoring 4 goals and setting up his side for the win.   Kyle Davis, Mitchell Clarke and Cobe Rose also had a hand in scoring, with Jaylen Butler pestering the Wolves defence. Thanks to the Port Saints Wolves for an entertaining game.

U7 Port Saints Bears v Wauchope Axemen
The U7 Port Saints Bears came up against the Wauchope Axemen on a very muddy pitch on Saturday.  All of the players had a fantastic game, showing great ball control in difficult conditions.
Well done to Spence Irwin for being the player with the most mud on him after the game!
Some great dribbling and passing skills were shown by all the team. Goals this week went to Spence and Josh.  A great big HUGE congratulations to Sarah Hatherley who scored her FIRST GOAL EVER! Well done Sarah!

U11 Port Saints Wildcats v Wauchope Axeman
The Wildcats headed off to Wauchope on Saturday to play against the Wauchope Axeman on their home turf.  The Axeman started off well and headed to half time with a decent lead over the Wildcats. In the 2nd half the Wildcats kicked into gear and had a much better half, were hungrier for the ball and put together some great defensive play and a fast attacking break led to Daniel Mottley scoring the only goal of the match for the Wildcats. Brendan Fuller had a great 2nd half as goalie, who for only the 2nd time this season pulled on the goalie jumper; he put some great pressure on the Axeman strikers.  This week Daniel Mottley was named player of the week, he had a great defensive game in the first half and attacked the ball well in the second.
